I can now pretty much go directly to the program that is appropriate. What I have found, is that for me, Pages usually wins out for the type of material that I publish. What I have been doing for several months is using both programs and duplicating efforts. Mellel is a stronger layout program except that is doesn't do graphics or objects (not really.) Pages can practically double as a layout program except there are fine-line tweaks that they do not facilitate. With Pages there is a hierarchy that keeps confusion down and fixes fast and the document consistent. And what you'll find concerning styles is that Pages is much easier to get the style formatted just right, while Mellel has a greater mix of options concerning styles and in what combination.īut, with Mellel you spend a much greater amount of time chasing down adjustments to your styles. Perhaps there's a quick fix for each of these. Again, I can't find any place to fix this and make it consistent with the other lists/outlines - except through considerable labor reformatting styles. These appear, instead, right up against the text, contrasting sharply with the more nicely formatted numbered lists and outlines. Second, when making lists or outlines, Pages does a nice job of putting the number in front of the indented text, with a nice space before the indented text begins - except in the case of bullets. This eliminated the superscript in the note, and I can't seem to find any place to either regulate this appearance or to reset it to superscript. But re-formatted my footnotes to get a larger font, and in the process converted the note to 12-point text. ![]() ![]() The footnote in-text reference mark (e.g., "1") is a superscript, and so is the mark at the beginning of the footnote itself. First, I don't seem to be able to control the appearance of footnotes as I'd like to in Pages 2.
